IND vs PAK: Rohit Sharma’s men on verge of creating massive Champions Trophy record during India vs Pakistan clash

Following their win over Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy, the Indian cricket team are on a verge of creating a historic milestone on Sunday when the Men in Blue take arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai. The victory over Bangladesh was India 19th in the ICC Champions Trophy and a win over Pakistan will make them the first team to record 20 wins in the history of the tournament.

England, who were runners-up twice in 2004 and 2013, has the second-most number of wins in ICC Champions Trophy with 14 victories, followed by 2000 winners New Zealand and 2004 champions West Indies are level on 13. Two-time winners Australia (12) come fourth in the list.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan became the 14th team to debut in ICC Champions Trophy. Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side take on South Africa in their Champions Trophy debut.

India look to level scores with Pakistan

However, India will aim to level scores against Pakistan on Sunday. The teams have met each other five times in ICC Champions Trophy with Pakistan leading 3-2 in head-to-head.

In fact, India had lost to Pakistan in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, Pakistan will be on the backfoot on Sunday after losing their first game against New Zealand and face a do-or-die situation in the race for semifinal.

They will also miss the services of Fakhar Zaman, who has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, after suffering a lower side back injury in the first over of the tournament opener in Karachi.

Although he came to bat during Pakistan’s innings, but couldn’t be his own self as he battled pain and wasn’t able to run between the wickets properly. Although Pakistan is hosts of ICC Champions Trophy, India are playing their matches in Dubai after BCCI refused to send its team across borders due to security concerns.
