Amid the ongoing controversy over the animated video released by the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s (BJP) Karnataka unit on May 4, the Election Commission (EC) is likely to ask X, formerly Twitter, to take down the video, reported Indian Express on Tuesday. The Congress filed an FIR against BJP President JP Nadda, IT cell head Amit Malviya, and the party’s Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra on Sunday in connection with this matter.

The BJP’s animated video targets Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah in line with the party’s claim that the grand old party aims to distribute wealth among Muslims by snatching the rights of SCs, STs and OBCs.
About Karnataka BJP video controversy
The 17-second-long animated video begins with three eggs (labelled SC, ST, and OBC) placed in a nest. Subsequently, the video shows the caricatures of Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah, placing another egg (labelled Muslim) in the nest. As chicks hatch out of their eggs, the video shows Gandhi’s caricature feeding only the one with “Muslims” written on it.
Congress wanted to give SC-ST quota to Muslims, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously targeted the Congress, alleging the party of appeasing Muslim voters at the expense of people from the SC-ST and OBC communities. While speaking at a rally in Rajasthan’s Tonk-Sawai Madhopur on April 23, Modi said that when Congress was in power in the centre, it wanted to reduce the “SC-ST reservation and distribute it among the Muslims.”
PM Modi had said, “As soon as the Congress government came to power at the Centre in 2004, its first task was to try to provide reservation to Muslims by reducing SC/ST reservations in Andhra Pradesh. This was a pilot project that Congress wanted to try in the entire country. Between 2004 and 2010, Congress tried four times to implement Muslim reservations in Andhra Pradesh.”
